Proposed project joins leading Czech research institutions active in the fields relevant to energy conversion and storage technologies, including integration of these technologies into distribution grid and selected industrial sectors. The target is to found a long-lasting multi-disciplinary R&D program ensuring future global competitiveness of the Czech economy. A holistic approach to the underlying technologies integrating a whole range of approaches starting with quantum chemical calculations, including research and development of energy conversion and storage units and finishing with their integration in the distribution grid and in energy autonomous communities, represents the main strength of the proposed project. Primary goal of the project is to build a knowledge base needed for transition of the Czech industries away from fossil fuel dependency. This knowledge base is prerequisite for future competitiveness of the Czech industry, as well as for efficiency of the governance system of the Czech Republic, which is the main enabler of the legislative framework for this transition. Proposed project owing to its multidisciplinary nature will have a profound effect on the development of several fields of chemistry, material science and electric engineering, as well as on the training standards for the new generation of experts in renewable energy sector and in decarbonization technologies. Project will establish qualitatively novel national and international collaborations involving participating teams. This will strengthen their position and competitiveness on international scale.
