In this seminar, Dr. Vijay will present an overview of his past research activities on the design, development and study of various supported metal-based catalysts for the biomass-derived compounds to fuels additives, H2 production from methane cracking, etc. The talk will also cover the use of some important characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), pulse chemisorption, temperature programmed reduction/desorption (TPR/TPD), in situ probe adsorption with FT-IR spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and etc. to correlate the catalyst structure to its activity. In addition, he will also present some of the important results obtained in developing the supported Ni-based materials for the biomass valorization and methane decomposition. Finally, a brief overview of his current research activities will be presented on CO2 hydrogenation to dimethyl ether over the modified Cu-Zn-Al catalysts.
